Skillweb experienced a record year during 2009 processing more than 150 million transactions through its mobile communications system that is used by leading delivery, supply chain, service management and healthcare companies.

 In particular, the post and parcel sector saw an increase of over 85 per cent; a 30% growth in the healthcare sector; there was a 25% growth in service management; and 70% growth in the supply chain sector as operators looked to better manage mobile workforces and the movement of goods to reduce costs and enhance customer service.

Jersey Post was one of a number of new and existing customers to extend their use of Skillweb’s Houndit technology platform. The postal operator selected Skillweb to develop an end-to-end mobile communications solution for Ship2me, an innovative home delivery service for Jersey and Guernsey. The tracking solution uses barcoding, GPS tracking and handheld scanners, to monitor the status of an item at every stage of delivery, with electronic signature capture providing proof of delivery.

In addition, Skillweb has also achieved impressive levels of service, significantly above the industry norm of 99 to 99.5 percent, achieving average systems availability of more than 99.96 percent with some customers experiencing 100 percent availability throughout the whole of 2009. This translates into higher operational use of the customers systems and combined with a robust software design processes has resulted in lower support call volumes, where each user has contacted the company’s help desk on average less than once every three years.
