Latest upgrade from Skillweb keeps parts moving for Lynx Partsflow operations
Track and Trace Managed Services increases visibility of deliveries and collections and improves customer satisfaction
Lynx’s enhanced international Partsflow operation offers a range of Europe-wide ‘Pick-up and Drop-off’ (PUDO) delivery solutions to customers. Lynx can pick up in Europe as late as 11 p.m. fly the product over to Britain and have the part delivered by 7 a.m. next day. An essential part of this service is proof of delivery into unattended lockers, captured by Skillweb’s Track & Trace Managed Service. In a recent upgrade to the service Skillweb has provided functionality to track assets employed within the operation. Skillweb, a specialist supplier of mobile computing solutions for the supply chain, tracks over one million consignments annually for Lynx. Since installing the original Skillweb solution in 2003, Lynx Partflow has seen a reduction of 50% in customer queries and is experiencing a 57% growth in volumes.
The new Tracking Service enables Lynx to provide a parts delivery service for its customer Linde, a gas company. Each tote delivered to or collected by field engineers is sealed shut and has a barcode so that it can be scanned quickly by drivers using Intermec rugged mobile computers. The event data is then downloaded via GPRS mobile communications to Skillweb’s back end servers and transferred to Lynx’s management system.
According to Nick Robinson, responsible for Lynx Partsflow operations; “Express next-day deliveries in parts and spares are a rapidly increasing part of our operations and rose by over 50% in volume last year. Skillweb’s Track and Trace Managed service now gives us full visibility of our collection and delivery service and enables us to meet our customer delivery promise with confidence.”
Chris Wright, Managing Director of Skillweb commented, “Our enhanced tracking service enables companies like Lynx to provide a parts delivery service in boxes that provide added security and protection as well as proof of delivery. We were delighted to work with Lynx to develop a practical business solution in partnership with them.”
Skillweb’s service is used to track and deliver products such as medical parts, computer components and automotive spares across Britain. Skillweb customises solutions to provide proof of delivery, electronic signatures, returns, vehicle safety, fuel, driver management and resource management.
