Acumen to provide new fully audited, distribution and delivery services based on Track & Trace from Skillweb
Full visibility of unique, high value products within distribution process now available from Acumen
Skillweb has been selected by Acumen Logistics Group to provide a track & trace solution for its warehouse and distribution operation. The new system, based on Skillweb’s Track & Trace Manager will provide unload, count, check and load functionality within the warehouse and proof of delivery and consignment tracking for the delivery team. The system will be used by Acumen for a new fully audited logistics service for a major customer in the hazardous goods sector.
The new system, which will be deployed on Intermec hand held computers, will enable Acumen to track highly valuable cartons of medical equipment from containers received from the USA into its warehouse in Halifax. The cartons are then delivered to the customer’s own distribution centres and home based technicians by a fleet of dedicated vans and trucks making multiple drops around the country. Each carton has a unique serial number that has to be tracked right the way through the supply chain, so they will be scanned on arrival, at despatch and through out the delivery process, providing a full audit trail for each unique product.
The key business benefit for Acumen is that Skillweb’s Track & Trace will provide absolute traceability. This is vital due to the importance of the individual units. Acumen needs to know the exact quantities of products in stock and where and when they have been delivered, together with the electronic signature of the receiving party.
